Meara Conway

Meara joined John Norris as an Associate following her Call to the Bar in 2014. Since that time, she has appeared at all level of court in Ontario and at the Supreme Court of Canada. She maintains a trial and appellate practice in criminal law  and practices in association with Cavalluzzo Shilton McIntyre Cornish LLP. Since her Call to the Bar,  Meara has defended clients facing all matter of criminal charges, from assault to murder.

Meara earned a joint B.C.L./LL.B. common and civil law degree from McGill University in 2013. There she volunteered with several community legal clinics and the Canadian Council for Refugees.  She also served on the executive of the McGill Journal of Law and Health.

Proficient in French, Meara completed her legal studies at Pierre Mendes University in Grenoble.

Following law school, Meara served as a law clerk to the judges of the Superior Court of Justice in Toronto. There, she had the opportunity to work on a wide range of cases, including a number of important criminal law decisions.

Meara is a member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association, has presented at professional conferences in the area of constitutional law, and is a member of the Law Union of Ontario,.

Meara is also an accomplished singer and musician.  Before attending law school, she earned B.Mus. and M.Mus degrees at McGill University with a specialization in opera.  A winner of the Canadian National Musical Competition, Meara has performed across North America.   She also plays cello and accordion in Alarm Her Majesty!, a folk band comprised mainly of lawyers with a strong social justice bent.
